Our provider shadowing program offers a comprehensive, hands-on experience to enhance your skills and expand your knowledge in the field of medical aesthetics. Shadowing a med spa provider at MidAmerica Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa provides invaluable firsthand insight into this dynamic field. You’ll observe experienced practitioners performing advanced techniques and procedures, gaining practical knowledge beyond what textbooks can offer. This real-world exposure helps you understand patient interactions, treatment planning, and delivery of exceptional patient care.

Training Highlights

Understanding the variability of clinic days, we aim to align our schedule with your learning priorities. We are committed to creating a custom experience that caters to your specific interests and needs within the Medical Aesthetics field, as our normal clinic schedule allows. We strive to cover as much as our schedule allows in addition to your individual interests. You can expect to cover a majority of the following:

Patient Consultations & Creating Realistic Expectations

• How to take proper consultation photos and/or Before and After photos for comparison.  
• Patient and Provider discussion of the patient’s cosmetic goals, treatment options, address concerns, and recommend suitable procedures based on patient needs.

Administering Non-Invasive Procedures

• Our skilled providers (Nurse Practitioners/Nurse Injectors) administer a wide variety of non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as Neurotoxins, Dermal Fillers, Bio-Stimulators, Laser Hair Removal, IPL-BBL Laser Services, Tattoo Removal, RF Microneedling, Microneedling and Coolsculpting.  
• Our highly skilled Esthetician performs all our skin services including HydraFacial’s, Custom Facials, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels and Dermaplaning.  

Observe Advanced Injection Techniques

• Dermal Fillers: Understand the use of hyaluronic acid-based fillers, their safety profile, and longevity. 
• Sculptra: Learn about the application of injectable poly-L-lactic acid for restoring facial balance and harmony. 
• Botox/Dysport: Gain valuable tips on the proper administration of these neurotoxins. 

Patient Education

• Our providers assure that patients are equipped and understand all pre- and post-procedure education for optimal results and comfort throughout their treatment journey with us. This includes explaining the treatment process, managing expectations, and ensuring patients follow proper aftercare instructions.  

Record Keeping & Collaboration:  

• Our providers ensure and maintain detailed patient records, documenting treatment plans, progress, and any adverse reactions. Accurate record-keeping is crucial for patient safety and continuity of care.  
• Our team of providers work collaboratively with one another to optimize the patient’s experience and ensure treatments meet health and safety regulations.  

Performing Profitable Follow Ups & Managing Complications:  

• Post-treatment check-ins by ensuring patient recovery and progression of results have not only met but exceeded expectations to the best of our ability and the patient’s individual needs.  
• Tracking outcomes by assessing results, evaluating next steps, and adjusting current treatment plans. Building strong relationships with effective follow-ups to maintain and establish trust and rapport between the provider and the patient. Our providers strive to educate our patients about long-term care by emphasizing the importance of maintaining results.

Pricing:

Full Day (8 – 10 hours): $1,000.00

Available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm OR 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Half Day (4 hours): $500.00

Available from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm OR 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Once your application is approved, we will contact you to organize and confirm a date based on our availability and your scheduling preferences, if any, noted in your application form. You will receive a link once a date is confirmed to either pay the 50% deposit or to pay the entirety of the shadowing fee if you choose to pay in full at the time of booking once the date is confirmed. The remaining 50% of the shadowing fee will be due approximately one week prior to your scheduled shadowing date if choosing to split payment by placing the deposit at time of booking, you will then receive an additional link to finalize payment at the one-week mark leading up to your scheduled shadowing date. Please note that the booking deposit is non-refundable. However, you may reschedule your original shadowing date without penalty to your 50% deposit if we are notified at least 10 business days prior to the original scheduled date. Any cancellations or rescheduling requests that take place outside of the 10-day window will result in your deposit being forfeited and/or an additional scheduling deposit to be paid at time of rescheduling and confirming a new date. 

Requirements:

• Must be 18+ years of age to participate.
• No previous licensure or certification required.

How Do I Apply?

To apply for our shadowing program, simply fill out an application form using the button below. Please note that while you can request a specific provider, selection is not guaranteed. Providers will be assigned based on availability and area of focus. Be sure to submit your application at least six weeks before your preferred shadowing date to ensure proper scheduling. Once your application is received, you will receive a follow-up email within five (5) business days containing schedule and payment information.
