Holly’s Story
Request Your ConsultationWhat made you decide to have surgery?
About six years ago, I lost almost 60 pounds. I just made a lifestyle change. I started eating better, and made sure I made fitness an everyday thing. And when I did that, my body obviously transformed. I noticed that I felt like I didn’t look as feminine as I wanted to and when you work really hard to stay healthy…you’re a female, you want to look like a girl so that had a lot to do with it – and when I tried clothes on, they wouldn’t fit and I was really limited in what I could wear. It became frustrating.
What was your first impression of Dr. Diederich?
I was comfortable with my body, but to be honest, to have a Doctor that I felt comfortable with made all the difference. And because I was searching for somebody that I felt comfortable with, when I met Dr. Diederich I decided I could do this.
Please share your personal experiences of the process and Dr. Diederich. Were there any things that you were concerned about or questioned leading up to surgery?
The process was pretty simple, but I was nervous about how long it would take to recover. I’m a single mom so I was concerned about being able to do all the things that I needed to do to run my household.
Leading up to it, we had the consultation to let me know everything was going on and what the process would be. I went in two weeks before just to make sure we were all set for the day surgery – that was pretty painless – just discussion really.
The recovery was pretty quick. After 2 days I went to the gym and walked, and then by the next day I ran. Dr. Diederich did say upfront it would be a lot faster than what I was thinking and to just listen to my body, what I feel comfortable doing – go ahead and do that – and that’s really what I did.
With surgery behind you, how have things changed?
I was very excited, after coming home from surgery I pulled out a bathing suit that I had before and was very pleased with how much different it looked and how well it fit and I knew then I would be more confident. I mean, dresses – girls like to wear dresses – I was really limited…but now I feel like, you look good!
