Neuromodulators To Treat Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, can cause discomfort and insecurity for those who experience it. However, it’s important to know there are options available to treat hyperhidrosis. Neuromodulators, such as BOTOX and Dysport, offer effective treatment of excessive sweating. Get ready to stay dry this summer! In this blog, we will explore how neuromodulators can help alleviate symptoms associated with hyperhidrosis.

What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating. It occurs when the sweat glands produce sweat in greater amounts than needed to regulate body temperature. While sweating is a normal and necessary bodily function, people with hyperhidrosis experience sweating that goes beyond what is necessary. This can have a significant impact on a person’s life, such as physical discomfort and self-consciousness.

How do neuromodulators treat hyperhidrosis?

BOTOX and Dysport are both neuromodulator injections that work by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a chemical responsible for triggering sweat production in the sweat glands. By inhibiting acetylcholine, BOTOX and Dysport can significantly reduce sweat production in the treated areas. When injected into specific sweat glands, they temporarily block the nerve signals that stimulate sweating, resulting in a significant decrease in the amount of sweat being produced. Areas that are commonly treated for hyperhidrosis include the underarms, hands, feet, groin, hairline, upper lip, back, under the breasts, and under the buttocks.

How long does it last and how much is the treatment?

The effects of Botox and Dysport for hyperhidrosis typically last for several months. Treatment can provide relief from excessive sweating for around three to six months, varying from person to person. Regular maintenance treatments can help to sustain the desired results. Pricing varies per area being treated. Because we’re treating larger surface areas than, let’s say the face, a larger dosing of units will be required to receive optimal results. For underarms and hands, we typically tell patients to expect spending roughly $1,000 on treatment. However, we recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss your options and pricing with one of our nurse injectors who perform the service.

More reasons to consider neuromodulators as your solution to sweating!

  • -Excessive sweating can negatively impact daily activities, social interactions, and self-confidence. By reducing sweating, BOTOX and Dysport injections can greatly improve the quality of life for hyperhidrosis patients. Say goodbye to worrying about sweat stains!
  • -Neuromodulators are minimally invasive because we utilize insulin syringes. The treatment involves a series of small injections into the targeted areas, usually the underarms, palms, or feet. The procedure is quick and generally well-tolerated, typically taking only 10 to 20 minutes to complete.
  • -We numb you prior to injections, so the treatment is very tolerable!
  • -As Botox and Dysport injections are non-surgical, there is little to no downtime associated with the procedure. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment, making it a convenient and accessible option for managing hyperhidrosis.

By significantly reducing sweat production, neuromodulators are an effective option for treating hyperhidrosis. With their non-invasive nature, long-lasting results, and minimal downtime, BOTOX and Dysport provide a practical and accessible solution for managing excessive sweating.
