As we enter Acne Awareness Month, MidAmerica Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa is dedicated to providing you with effective solutions to achieve clear, radiant skin. Acne can affect individuals of all ages and can significantly impact self-confidence and overall well-being. At our medical spa, we understand the importance of a comprehensive approach to acne treatment, which includes professional services and a personalized at-home skincare regimen. In this blog, we will explore the range of services available at our spa that target acne concerns, as well as recommended medical grade skincare products to enhance your medical spa treatments. With our expertise and your commitment, together we can conquer acne and achieve healthy skin.
Acne is a common skin condition that can be both frustrating and challenging to manage. Our nurses and aesthetician offer an array of advanced treatments specifically designed to target and alleviate acne concerns. If you’re looking for an option with the least downtime, we recommend regularly getting one of our light chemical peels every 4-6 weeks. These peels work to unclog pores, remove dead skin cells, and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process, thereby reducing acne and improving overall skin texture. Specifically, our PRX peel has been a hit with both patients and staff alike. There is no peeling or shedding, so you can expect results after at least three treatments, with no downtime!
For a more aggressive treatment, our VI Peels are formulated to effectively reduce acne and prevent future breakouts by exfoliating the skin, clearing clogged pores, and diminishing acne scarring. As this is a medium depth chemical peel, it will stimulate your body’s natural collagen production and cause your skin to peel. This process will typically start on the third day and continue for a few days. Results are noticeably beautiful, which is why VI Peels are one of our most popular skin treatments.
Similarly, Sciton’s BBL Forever Clear laser treatment harnesses the power of light therapy to target acne-causing bacteria, reduce inflammation, and promote clearer, healthier skin. This laser will also treat post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH, caused by breakouts and blemishes. Another treatment that can treat both active acne, PIH, and scarring caused by acne is Sylfirm X, an RF microneedling machine. This device is the newest RF microneedling technology on the market, and we offer it right here at our medical spa! Read more about this amazing treatment in our blog.
These innovative treatments are tailored to address various types of acne, offering clients effective and long-lasting solutions for achieving a clearer, smoother complexion. However, it’s also important to put in work outside of your medical spa visits too! Which is why our providers can help customize a skincare regiment for you, which will enhance and prolong the treatments you receive in the office. While everyone’s skin is different, our aesthetician Madi recommends this basic skincare regimen for patients with oily/acne-prone skin:
Morning:
- Cleanse with Epionce’s Lytic Gel Cleanser or The Spa’s Daily Acne Cleanser
- Apply your protective (and proactive) Silymarin CF, a vitamin C serum tailored to patients with oily skin by containing salicylic acid
- Don’t forget to moisturize with Epionce’s Renewal Lite Lotion or The Spa’s Hydroboost Gel (because drying out your skin can also cause breakouts!)
- Top it off with The Spa’s Daily Tinted Sunshield, a light coverage and mattifying sunscreen
Night:
- Cleanse the skin (twice if you’re wearing makeup)
- Apply Epionce’s Lytic Sport or The Spa’s Retinol 100 for cellular turnover, chemical exfoliation, and collagen stimulation
- Moisturize
