Are you healthy, active, but still dealing with stubborn fat? CoolSculpting may be the solution for you!
What is Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved treatment of visible fat in nine areas of the body: bulges in the thigh, abdomen, and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll), and upper arm. This treatment is for patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of ≤ 30. Patients wanting to treat submandibular areas (under the chin/jaw) should have a BMI of ≤ 46.2. CoolSculpting works by using cryolipolysis, or fat-freezing technology. Following the treatment, your body will naturally eliminate the dead fat cells. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment, so continue to maintain your usual diet and exercise.
How do I get started with Coolsculpting?
At The Spa at MidAmerica, we require a consultation prior to your CoolSculpting treatment. Consultations allow you and your provider to establish your goals, map out a custom treatment plan for you, and discuss pricing. They are complimentary and typically last for about 30 minutes. If you decide to proceed and book your appointment, a 10% deposit for your overall treatment will be collected. This deposit acts as a placeholder for your appointment, but is taken off of your overall price. The remaining balance will be owed at check out on the day of your first appointment.
What should I expect on the day of your Coolsculpting treatment?
On the day of your treatment, your provider will take your weight and grab clinical photos to track your progress. Next, they will outline the areas being treated and apply a gel pad, which acts as a barrier between your skin and the applicator. Once the applicator has been placed, expect to feel a light vacuuming pressure and intense cold. The cold will subside, as the area will temporarily go numb. When each treatment ends, your provider will then massage the area to break up the fat cells. Discomfort and sensitivity is dependent on the patient; however, most people say that their CoolSculpting appointments are a good time to catch up on reading, work, their favorite show, or a nap! Appointment times vary for this procedure, but typically run about 1-3 hours long.
Will there be down time?
There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting! You may experience soreness, numbness, and tingling for a couple of weeks. But again, discomfort and sensitivity is patient dependent.
With the addition of the CoolSculpting Elite machine to our practice, our providers are able to utilize two applicators per machine, compared to the old device that was only equipped with one. Two applicators means that two areas can be treated at one time. This increases efficiency by reducing the time you would spend in the office. The Elite experience also offers different sizes of the applicators, improving the fit and comfort of the experience!
For most patients, multiple treatment sessions are recommended to help reach their body contouring goals. We offer pre-paid packages at a tiered discount rate, but because this treatment is very patient dependent, we always start off with a complimentary consultation to establish if you are a good candidate. Taylor or Ciara, our CoolSculpting technicians, can then proceed to establish a personalized treatment plan and go over pricing with you!
To get your summer body ready, it’s a good idea to start your CoolSculpting journey in the winter! Not only does the treatment process typically consist of multiple sessions, but it can take 1-3 months to notice your results. We invite you to browse some of our patient results on our photo gallery.
