What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators, such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are aesthetic injections commonly used for both prevention and correction of fine lines and wrinkles. The quick and nearly painless procedures are utilized for cosmetic reasons, as well as medical purposes. During treatment, neuromodulators are injected into specific muscles, resulting in temporary muscle relaxation and a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as well as other medical purposes like pain relief and reducing sweat production.

Good Candidates for BOTOX Cosmetic & Dysport
If you’re concerned about early signs of facial aging and are looking for a nonsurgical treatment to soften wrinkles and fine lines, particularly in the upper face, BOTOX or Dysport is for you. We offer BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin for patients who want to temporarily smooth wrinkles caused by facial muscle contractions. Ideal candidates are individuals who:
- Struggle with fine lines and wrinkles on areas such as the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Are seeking a non-surgical, minimally invasive solution for facial rejuvenation
- Have realistic expectations for subtle, natural-looking results
- Are in overall good health
Additionally, BOTOX and Dysport can treat vertical frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and transverse lines on the nose (bunny lines). They can also be used to minimize fine line around the mouth and vertical “bands” on the neck. The injections can also help postpone early signs of aging for patients in their 20s and early 30s by preventing the formation of dynamic wrinkles.
Take our interactive quiz and find out if BOTOX or Dysport could be your next step to a radiant, youthful look.

BOTOX® & Dysport® Frequently Asked Questions
How Do Neuromodulators Work?
BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin are all made using a purified form of the botulinum toxin that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume to etched-in lines and folds, BOTOX temporarily disables the tiny muscles which cause dynamic wrinkles—wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions.
BOTOX treatment usually takes about 15 minutes, with results typically begin to appear about 3 to 7 days after the procedure. Full results will take up to 14 days.
How Long Does BOTOX Last and When Will I See Results?
BOTOX results usually last between 3 to 4 months. Maintenance injections every 3 to 6 months can extend the duration of the improvements. Results can be seen in as little as 3 to 4 days. Optimal results are typically achieved in 2 weeks.
BOTOX, Dysport, or XEOMIN…What is the Best Option for Me?
Most people have heard of BOTOX, but in recent years other products have emerged on the market that offer patients options. The 3 choices are very similar, but there are some differences. The effects of Dysport, for example, may show up a little sooner than those from BOTOX injections. Some individuals or specific concerns may respond better to one product than the other. You can discuss the differences with your provider at your consultation.
BOTOX for Excessive Sweating
The FDA has approved BOTOX for several uses, including the treatment of excessive underarm sweating, a condition called hyperhidrosis. People suffering from hyperhidrosis can sweat through multiple shirts or blouses in a day, causing them to be self-conscious in social or professional settings. BOTOX injections temporarily disable the sweat glands in the underarm area. Talk to Dr. Diederich if you’re interested in treating hyperhidrosis.

Can I Resume Normal Activities After My BOTOX Injection?
One of the reasons for the popularity of Botox/Dysport injections is that you can return to work or other activities immediately after your treatment. Minor side effects, such as bruising or redness at the injection sites, resolve relatively quickly. Although they are rare and typically minor symptoms, you may also experience a headache or nausea. We recommend that you don’t lie down for at least 4 hours after the treatment, avoid massaging the treatment area, and postpone strenuous exercising for 48 hours.
Do Men Get BOTOX?
Often referred to as “Brotox,” BOTOX injections are quickly gaining popularity with our male patient population as an anti-aging treatment. We use it in similar treatment areas as women including the forehead, between the eyebrows, and the outer corners of the eyes. Men may need a higher volume of BOTOX than women due to differences in muscle mass.
