What to Expect During the Liposuction Procedure

How is liposuction completed?

Before the liposuction procedure, the areas of liposuction are marked as a guide to plan the appropriate treatment. Liposuction is able to specifically target areas that you want treated.

The tumescent liposuction technique uses a saline solution mixed with anesthetics and epinephrine to shrink fat cells and reduce bleeding. The tumescent medication is infiltrated in the target area through very small access points and is completed with minimal scarring. This method provides a more comfortable experience with faster recovery and enhanced precision in sculpting and contouring the body. Liposuction can be completed as an in-office procedure or in the operating room depending on each patient’s needs.

Targeted to Your Goals

What areas of the body can liposuction address?

Liposuction can target various areas of the body, including:

  • Abdomen: To remove excess fat around the stomach.
  • Thighs: To address inner and outer thigh fat.
  • Hips: To contour the waist and hips.
  • Arms: To reduce fat in the upper arms.
  • Back: To smooth out fat deposits along the back.

Each area treated contributes to a more sculpted and harmonious body shape.

Confidence + Comfort

What are the benefits of liposuction?

Liposuction offers several benefits, including:

  • Enhanced Body Contours: Achieve a more streamlined and proportionate appearance.
  • Improved Self-Confidence: Feel more comfortable and confident in your body.
  • Long-Lasting Results: Once fat cells are removed, they do not return, provided you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  • Minimally Invasive: Compared to other surgical options, liposuction involves smaller incisions and a quicker recovery.

Guidance at Every Step

Am I a candidate for liposuction?

Ideal candidates for liposuction are individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have localized fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. Candidates should be in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and be non-smokers. Those with significant weight loss or skin laxity may require additional procedures such as a body lift to achieve optimal results. If you have specific health concerns or conditions, Dr. Diederich will discuss these during your consultation to ensure that liposuction is right for you.

Seamless Support

Liposuction Recovery

Recovery from liposuction typically involves a few weeks of downtime. You may experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medications and over-the-counter pain relievers. It is important to follow Dr. Diederich's aftercare instructions, including wearing compression garments, avoiding strenuous activities, and attending follow-up appointments. Most patients return to their normal activities within 1-2 weeks, though it may take several months to see the final results.

Refined and Renewed

How long for liposuction results?

Your results will slowly become apparent as the swelling and fluid retention reside. It can take a few months or up to one year for the swelling to fully resolve. With continued practices of healthy diet and fitness, the fatty tissue should be permanently removed.
